CARD MONITORING
Progressions Credit Union has a fraud monitoring system called Falcon for all Visa debit and credit card transactions.  The Falcon system monitors suspicious transaction activity and in some cases, puts temporary blocks on debit and credit cards until the cardholder is able to verify if transactions deemed "risky" are valid.  Falcon monitors PIN and signature transactions that happen in person, via phone, and online.  If a crook or thief is using a debit or credit card number fraudulently, this is a quick way to detect possible fraudulent transactions. 

What happens if there is a suspect transaction on my card?
Falcon fraud analysts will call you at the phone number you have on file with us. They will review recent transactions and ask you to confirm if they are valid. If they are not able to reach the cardholder, a temporary block may be placed on the card to prevent any additional fraudulent transactions that may be attempted.

What if I am not available to answer the call?
A message will be left with a call-back number and a case number. Call the fraud center back as soon as possible and have the case number handy. When you call back, an automated system may walk you through the steps of confirming the transactions are valid or you may be directed to an analyst to go over the suspect transactions.

What happens when I confirm whether the transactions are valid or fraudulent?
If the transaction is valid, any temporary block will be removed and you will be free to use your card as usual. If the transactions are confirmed as fraudulent, you will be transferred to an analyst and a permanent block will be placed on your card. You will be then directed to contact the credit union for additional follow-up.

How do I know the call from the fraud department is not a scam?
Falcon investigates cases 24 hours a day, 365 days a year but will only call members between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 pm in the cardholder's local time zone for verification. The fraud analysts will identify themselves as representing Progressions Credit Union or calling on our behalf. They will NOT ask for the full card number or your Social Security Number but they may confirm other identifying information. If you are ever in doubt, contact the credit union and we will be happy to go over the transactions with you.

Can I call the fraud department with questions regarding my debit or credit card?
No. The fraud department can only help you with transactions they have deemed as suspicious. You will be referred back to the credit union for other questions regarding your account.

Progressions Credit Union is committed to keeping your accounts with us safe while minimizing any inconvenience protecting your account may cause. If we believe your card is being used fraudulently and we are not able to reach you at the phone number on file, we may block your card for additional charges. It is crucial that you keep your contact phone number current with us at all times. If you are going to be traveling, be sure to let us know your travel dates, location, and a contact phone number so we can let the fraud department know how to reach you while you are traveling.

Note:  While fraudulent Visa transactions are covered by the credit union, it's possible that the cardholder may be required to cover the first $50.00 in some cases.  An Affidavit of Forgery and a police case number may be requested as well.
SMARTDEPOSIT
SmartDeposit is a feature found within our SmartMobile app that allows you to deposit an image of your check vs. coming into our offices. You simply sign your name on the back of your check with the words "For PCU Remote Deposit Only", take a picture of the front and back, using your phones camera through the SmartDeposit feature, and submit with a click! It is user friendly and saves you time. SmartDeposit is free and works using an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
