| | | | | | | | INVEST IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP | 4 Tips to Keep Money from Ruining Your Relationship Money problems are one of the biggest relationship killers out there, and with Valentines Day approaching here are 5 tips to keep money from ruining your relationship.
Communicate Plenty of relationships have been destroyed because couples were afraid to talk to one another about money problems. It is important to discuss and respect each others need for money. If one person in the relationship feels they are not getting their fair share they may covertly open credit lines without the other partner knowing. When the bill comes due and there is no money to pay for it, the problems will deepen. The longer you keep the problem hidden the longer it takes to to come up with viable solutions to fix it.
Budget and Stick to It Sit down together and prioritize your expenses. There are hard costs that usually do not change or would take time to change like housing and auto payments. Then there are things like cable bills, phone bills and groceries that can be adjusted more easily. For instance, making a menu at the beginning of the week instead of blindly going grocery shopping will save you money and keep you from throwing away food that you bought on impulse. Progressions Credit Union has a tool to help you with this task, Click Here to start your budget today.
Save, Save, Save Each time you get paid, some portion of that should go to a savings account. If you treat your savings the same way you treat having to pay a bill, you will be surprised at how quickly you can save. Progressions has many savings solutions, including auto-transfers, certificate accounts, and even retirement accounts. Call, Click, or Visit for details. | Have Fun Do not forget to budget for fun activities. There are many things that you can do on a budget that do not cost very much money. Make sure your budget has a section for fun and entertainment. If you do not put money aside for date nights and entertainment you can get easily frustrated and give up on budgeting altogether.
You can also add additional nights of entertainment, if you can save money in other categories from your budget. It can be fun clipping coupons or buying generic brands when you know that the money you save will be added to your fun time.Have a Great Valentine’s Day! | FREE TICKETS TO 2015 SPOKANE BOAT SHOW | | | SAYING “I DON'T” TO WEDDING DEBT | | Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue—nothing more than a sentimental wedding tradition, unless the something borrowed is thousands of dollars to pay for the big day.
Here are practical tips to help other newlyweds and their parents avoid post-wedding money troubles.
Budget. You won't be in for a shock if you determine ahead of time how much you can afford to spend and then stick to your plans. A number of websites offer printable and online wedding budget planners.
Don't forget about miscellaneous expenses. Small forgotten expenses can wreak havoc on even the best-planned budget. Be sure to factor in tips, the marriage license fee, attendant gifts, thank you cards, and all the other smaller-ticket items that can add up.
Pay off credit cards as you use them. Using a credit card to pay for deposits and things in the months leading up to the wedding can be smart, but pay them down each month. If you don't, it's just too easy to wake up after the honeymoon to find you've gone over budget and are starting out with a big debt.
Don't count on cash gifts to pay for your wedding. Racking up wedding expenses based on expectations of cash gifts is a mistake. Spend only what you can afford to on your own, and use any money you receive to get a head start on your important financial goals.
Communicate with each other. In the months leading up to the wedding, talk often and openly about the wedding budget, bills to be paid, and choices to be made.

Outlook 2015
Since the wind-down of the Great Recession in early 2009, the latest economic expansion has certainly delivered the goods and rewarded investors’ mailboxes with six consecutive calendar years of positive gains for stocks. “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night” has kept a lid on the continuation of one of history’s greatest bull market advances for stocks, and LPL Financial Research believes this trend of rising equity prices may continue in 2015.
